Description

The Improved Mann Lake Top Feeder Insert features a galvanized steel safety screen designed to reduce bee drowning.

This feeder is constructed of heavy-duty, single-piece plastic to provide a no-leak reservoir! Unpainted wooden surrounding measures 4½" x 19⅝" (11.43 cm x 49.85 cm) and fits all standard equipment. There is no comparison to the strength and durability this feeder provides over foam top-feeders.

  • Fill the feeder without opening the hive
  • One piece construction prevents leaking
  • Unpainted wooden surrounding measures 4½" x 19⅝" (11.43 cm x 49.85 cm)

Remove honey supers intended for human consumption prior to feeding.

Pro Tip: If this feeder runs completely empty or the syrup level gets very low, bees may crowd under the screen and struggle to find their way back, which can lead to drowning. To help prevent this, you can apply a bead of food-grade caulking along the bottom of the screen.

    Great feeding option

by ClayC on Oct 23, 2024

This is a great option for a hive top feeder. Well built and works well. I will say the updated 10 frame version is superior with the additional tabs keeping the screen in place. They need to do the same thing with the 8 frame feeder because I have to modify them to keep the screen in place to keep the bees out of the syrup area. Otherwise it would be 5 starts.

    Top feeder

Quality item. Holds plenty of syrup. I put a bead of silicone caulk at the end of the screen where it meets the plastic. Bees can’t slip through the cracks and drown.
