This compound is composed of a mixture of copper sulfate pentahydrate and citric acid. When turned into a solution, acidified copper sulfate serves as an effective preventative and treatment solution for blackhead disease (histomoniasis) in turkeys and sour crop (canker) in chickens.

While acidified copper sulfate is a safe antibiotic for all types of poultry, it should only be fed to birds over 3 weeks old.

How to Use Acidified Copper Sulfate

To use acidified copper sulfate as a supplement or treatment to crop fungus, do the following:

1. Mix acidified copper sulfate with drinking water to create a stock solution.
2. The recommended concentration involves one gallon of drinking water with the specified amount of copper sulfate.
3. After creating the solution, add it to water lines and waterers.
