    5 frame nuc

by Adam on Apr 25, 2024

Drove 2 hours, with a pocket-full of money and a million questions, to pick up my first colony ever. It was a madhouse; they were understaffed and the retail line was 12 people deep. So I thought I'd just pick up the nuc since I had already paid. Nope! Had to wait in the retail line for an hour just to sign in and pick up my bees. The beekeeper asked me: "Where's your bag? I told him that the nice lady on the phone had told me I did not need one, and that I wasn't going to wait in line another hour to buy a bag. He gave me a bag and refused payment. Nice guy! The bees were healthy and despite my clumsiness, are thriving, so it gets 4 stars.

    Hit or miss

by Dan Novak on Mar 08, 2024

Purchased two nucs. Very few dead bees. Both had live and active queens noted. One nuc had ample population, capped brood and sufficient nectar/honey on partially drawn frames. The other nuc was rather disappointing as capped brood was very spotty with no young larvae/eggs visible and had very poor population, and very little nectar and no capped honey present
