What size is right for me?

Did you know the only difference in measurements between 10 frame and 8 frame boxes is the width? 8 frame equipment is narrower than 10 frame, and not always compatible with other 8 frame equipment as dimensions vary slightly by manufacturers. 10 frame equipment offers more space for brood and honey production.

    Medium Supers

by PastorJack on Dec 23, 2024

They were not as good as the Brood Boxes, the pilot holes were not in the right place, & several nails would break through the inside of the boxes. Had to redrill at an angel to correct the problem. Several of the fingers had knots & would break out when nailing. They were the budget boxes & for the cost, they should have been better. The joints were super tight & had to hammer them into each other. For an American-made product, they should have been better.

    Unassembled commercial boxes

I like the larger box joint area for the frame rest, but I had to shave several of the box joint surfaces in order to be able to assemble the boxes. Additionally one side piece has a long crack.

by Greg Kauffman on Jun 05, 2024

the pilot holes for nails were not centered making it difficult to nail without driving the nail out the side.
