Description

Keep your honey bee colonies healthy by using Apiguard for Varroa mite treatment. Apiguard is an organic, slow-release thymol gel miticide. It is a natural Varroa mite treatment that is easy to use and widely utilized by beekeepers to protect their colonies. Apiguard gel provides a new and effective treatment against Varroa mites in the hive.

Designed to control Varroa mite populations, Apiguard treatment is effective against Varroa mites, tracheal mites, and chalkbrood. The slow release of the active ingredient ensures consistent protection for your worker bees. For best results, apply Apiguard gel when temperatures are suitable for optimal distribution throughout the hive.

  • DC805 Apiguard 10 Pack: Includes 10 aluminum 50-gram dosing trays of Thymol gel that are ready to install in your colony for immediate Varroa mite treatment.
  • DC806 Apiguard 3kg tub: Includes one measuring syringe and 60 pads, providing a total of 60 applications in bulk gel form, each containing 50 grams of Apiguard gel.

How to Apply Apiguard to Brood Frames

  1. Make sure all entrances are fully open for sufficient airflow.
  2. Place the Apiguard tray at the top of the frames, centered over your honey bee colony.
  3. If the tray is close to empty, replace it after ten days. This ensures a consistent dose of the thymol gel in the hive.
  4. Leave the second tray in place for up to four weeks to complete the treatment for Varroa.

Note: This product is not approved for use during a honey flow. This natural treatment should be used after a honey harvest. See instructions and packaging for more details on how to achieve the most effective treatment.

  • Efficacy: Average efficacy rates ranged from 85 percent to 95 percent.
  • Temperature range: Use in temperatures between 60°F and 100°F. Apiguard may be less effective at lower temperatures due to reduced bee activity.
  • Natural treatment: Use 2 to 50 g treatments per hive with an interval of fourteen days in the summer months just after the honey flow.
  • Do not use during honey flow: This treatment is best applied after a honey harvest to avoid contamination of honey.

For best results, ensure proper application of Apiguard gel in your hive. The slow-release formulation allows for consistent distribution of the active ingredient, making it one of the most effective treatments available for beekeepers. Pair with screened bottom boards or spacer boards to optimize airflow and improve distribution efficiency.
