Product Details

Description

This robust honey refractometer is indispensable for measuring the honey moisture content, which is crucial in beekeeping. The tool allows readings within the 12% to 27% range, which is pivotal for ensuring the quality of your harvested honey. The sturdy construction is enhanced by a rubber grip and a comfortable eyepiece, facilitating ease of use during the crucial harvesting period.

By employing light refraction, the honey refractometer delivers highly accurate readings, essential for assessing the sugar content and moisture level in the honey that your bees produce. Such precision helps prevent honey fermentation, preserving the quality that beekeepers strive for.

To maintain this level of accuracy, it is vital to use calibration fluid designed explicitly for refractometers. Proper cleaning post-use is also recommended to ensure consistent performance.

Education

Maintaining honey moisture content is crucial for any beekeeper, whether hobbyist or a professional. The ideal moisture content for honey is between 17% and 18% and should not exceed 20% to prevent fermentation and ensure the highest quality.

Our honey refractometer is among the most important instruments you should own. By accurately measuring sugar and water content, beekeepers can better manage the harvesting process and ensure the quality of their honey. Learn more about the honey refractometer here.

    High quality metal refractometer

by HillprairieGary on Jul 05, 2024

I really like my new refractometer. It is made well, comes in a nice hard case and easy to use. The readings are easy to see. Wish I had had one several years ago when I had bottled honey that was wet and thus fermented.

    Works well

by Raymond Mason on Jul 03, 2023

The paperwork is very unclear on the unit type being there are no identification number on the unit itself I was only able to decide on the unit type I was sent by the numbers in the sight glass and the ones on the unit types list. I would request a model number be used to help customers to identify and use the information for calibration. The readings are very clear and the honey I've tested has been easy to read. This should help take the guess work out of how dry the partly uncapped frames are. And to see if the bees are drying the open frames and at what speed.
