Description
Bees create propolis to seal cracks in their hives, smooth out rough surfaces, and make guarding the hive easier by making the entrances smaller. However, propolis is also a highly sought-after product for its anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial properties—it’s a fantastic product to sell to consumers looking for natural remedies.
Using a propolis trap lets you remove propolis from your hive quickly and efficiently.
Our 10-frame plastic propolis traps are an excellent way to harvest clean propolis from the hive and add extra income to a beekeeping business. Built to replace an inner cover, our 10-frame polypropylene propolis trap will last years and can easily hold its shape between seasons.
Our 10-frame propolis trap is compatible with 10-frame equipment, but it can also be cut to fit 8-frames. This avoids buying a separate outer cover to accommodate your setup.
Using the Propolis Trap and Collecting Propolis
To use the 10-frame propolis trap, follow these instructions:
- Replace your inner cover with our plastic propolis trap.
- Wait for the bees to fill the grooves of the propolis trap with their propolis.
To collect propolis from the 10-frame propolis trap, follow these instructions:
- Once full of propolis, beekeepers should put the propolis trap inside a plastic bag.
- Freeze the plastic bag overnight.
- Retrieve the propolis trap. Twist or gently bang the propolis trap inside the bag against a flat surface. This should release the propolis.
